English for Exams

At IH New York, we offer exam preparation courses for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the Cambridge ESOL First Certificate in English (FCE), and the Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE).

You may need to take an International Exam to apply to an American or foreign university or you may want official recognition of your level of English to improve your job prospects. If this is the case, our Exam Preparation Classes are perfect for you! Each of our exam packages, except the one-to-one and the TOEFL Extensive, offers 18 Teaching Hours of direct contact time with a qualified instructor (a Teaching Hour is 50 minutes in length).

The TOEFL Exam is a requirement for non-native English speakers who want to apply to study at the university level in the United States and Canada, primarily. The TOEFL is also accepted by many universities outside of North America. The minimum score requirement for admission into university programs varies depending on the university and the department of study.

The First Certificate in English (FCE) is a University of Cambridge Exam for students who are able to use everyday written and spoken English at an upper-intermediate level. Students who take the FCE exam often use it to verify their level of English to employers or schools.

The Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) is a University of Cambridge Exam aimed at people who can use advanced-level written and spoken English for most professional and social purposes. Students who take the CAE exam often use it to verify their level of English to employers or universities.

Whatever your exam preparation needs are, IH New York has group classes and private tutors who can help you achieve the scores you need to succeed!
